That’s the worst dessert I’ve ever tasted!

I was at one of my favorite local restaurants recently when the woman at the table next to mine starting griping about how awful her dessert was. Her friends told her that if it was that bad maybe she should complain to the server because most restaurants will give you a new dessert or take the charge off your bill. That sounded reasonable to me, too, because I don’t like to pay for bad food in good restaurants. So I listened as the server came back to the woman’s table. “That is the worst dessert I’ve ever tasted!” the customer said. The server apologized and asked what was wrong with it. “Well the cake was dry and should have been moist. I practically choked on it, and it had no taste whatsoever.” The server said “Well I can bring you another piece of cake but first I have to ask – if it was so terrible where did it go?” She pointed at the woman’s empty plate where the rather large dessert had been. “I ate it!” said the woman. She had polished off a dessert big enough for two people without leaving a crumb, but then was upset enough to demand a refund. Some complainers really take the cake!
