I was in the grocery store last month – using the express line which is supposed to be faster – and this well-dressed businessman was in front of me paying for his two items. The cashier told him “That’ll be eight dollars and fifteen cents, please.” He holds up his hand with the palm facing her like a traffic cop to tell her to hold on and wait. He reaches into his pocket and pulls out his cell phone which is vibrating and takes a call. We all stand there while he talks loudly about how much money he just made on a land transaction. The cashier waits patiently. This goes on for at least five minutes and I saw two people leave the express line and go check out in other lines while the jerk was still on the phone. Then he hangs up, pays, and acts like it was no big deal. He was totally clueless and totally rude.
